![]() Gordon is a newly welcomed member of the team. Mr Ilett is an exceptionally experienced optician, with a long career in optics, and will be providing thorough examinations for all our patients. A word from Gordon: Why did you choose a career in optometry? "I was a bit squeamish and didn’t fancy being a dentist or a doctor, because there’s too much blood involved!" Tell us about your professional career in practice. "My pre-reg was in Brixton and Peckham, and I also worked in the contact lens department at Moorfields. About two years after qualifying, I was offered a partnership in a group of nine practices, which meant I moved to Kent, where I also became a sessional hospital optometrist. Here we developed a low vision service and a multidisciplinary paediatric low vision clinic to improve communication with schools, parents and social care workers. The hospital role provided the network to help develop community services in the local areas" Hi! I joined the team in early 2024 and am proudly the dispensing agent of the practice. I come from an optics background where I have achieved my Level 3 Certificate in Opthalmic Dispensing. Every person is important to us and it is my pleasure to assist all patients with everything spectacles. In the future I hope to add to my optics qualifications and grow into an able practitioner.

I bought the practice from the previous owners in February of 2013. I love my job as an Optometrist and pride myself on the care and individual attention I give to each patient I see. It is nice to be able to give each patient the time and attention they need so I make sure we have slightly longer appointments and I carry out all of the screening examinations myself.
